Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I worked with persons with ADHD in both the inpatient and outpatient clinical setting. I was awarded two grants by the American Pharmaceutical Association Foundation to implement a pharmaceutical care program for individuals with ADHD. I was contributing editor (psychopharmacology) for a national newsletter on ADHD. I spoke on ADHD at national conferences.

Anatomy

I am quite familiar with anatomy because of work as a clinical pharmacist and as an emergency medical technician.

Biology

I had a variety of biology courses including zoology, plant biology, biochemistry, pathophysiology, anatomy, physiology, bacteriology, microbiology, and pharmacology. My biology skills are further enhanced by doing bench research and also writing articles with a biology theme.

Microbiology

I have two recent publications with a microbiology theme.

Pharmacology

Pharmacology is the study of drugs. A drug is defined as any substance other than food that alters the function of the body by chemical means. I have well over a dozen publications with a pharmacology theme. I taught pharmacology at the community college level and in medical school.

Physiology

I had physiology as a subjective in college. My physiology knowledge is further added by research experience, writing, and teaching pharmacology.
