I am a capable tutor in all Humanities subjects, but most especially English, in which I majored. I am strongest in assisting students with the written word, specifically ESOL guidance. I cultivated experience during my undergraduate career at Mount Holyoke College as an Assistant at the Speaking, Arguing, and Writing Center. I held that role during the 2006/2007 and 2008/2009 school years, as well as Fall of 2009. During that time I assisted students with all aspects of essay writing (from the brainstorming stage to the final edit) and oration (from outlining speech structure to videotaping the final product for collaborative critique). I also developed and conducted workshops for the Speaking, Arguing, and Writing Center (How to Develop an Argument; Public Speaking). I began pursuing a MSLIS at Simmons in 2014.

I also worked with a young woman with Autism from June 2009 until April 2010 as a Personal Care Assistant. Likewise, I was involved in the Best Buddies Program at Mount Holyoke College for the 2006/2007 school year. Through the program, I spent one-on-one time with a young man with Asperger's and engaged in fun activities of his choice. I am a mother of a four year old boy, who imparts an immense amount of joy upon my life.

Having missed guiding students to academic success, I look forward to engaging this trajectory once again. I truly enjoy watching students comprehend material and recognize their own capability and talent.

Aspergers

I volunteered with Best Buddies during my undergraduate career at Mount Holyoke College. Through the Best Buddies Program I spent time on a bi-weekly basis with a young man with Asperger's. I would take him out into the community, traveling in my car, to partake in activities of his choosing - usually trips to the record store and out to eat. We bonded over our mutual love of music.

I have provided care to a child with Autism. I worked with a 12 year old girl from June of 2009 until April of 2010 through Stavros Center for Independent Living in Western Massachusetts. I am happy to put interested parties in touch with her mother for reference purposes. I met my client after school and cared for her until 7pm several times per week. We would play together, swim, and work on self-care practices (brushing teeth, getting dressed, etc).

Both experiences were extremely rewarding.

Cooking

I cook regularly in my home and have done so for more than 10 years. I love cooking all kinds of food and experimenting with new ingredients and recipes. Cooking is educational, therapeutic and deliciously rewarding.

Public Speaking

I participated in Model United Nations throughout my high school career. In college, I was an Assistant at the Speaking, Arguing, and Writing Center. In this role I helped students work on public speaking techniques, as well as fine-tune presentations.

Soccer

I played soccer from 7th grade through my first year of college. I have played club soccer, as well as for school teams. Recently, I began playing on a team again, which I find very rewarding and enjoyable. I love soccer.
