I am a capable tutor in all Humanities subjects, but most especially English, in which I majored. I am strongest in assisting students with the written word, especially ESOL guidance. I cultivated experience during my undergraduate career at Mount Holyoke College as an Assistant at the Speaking, Arguing, and Writing Center. I held that role during the 2006/2007 and 2008/2009 school years, as well as Fall of 2009. During that time I assisted students with all aspects of essay writing (from the brainstorming stage to the final edit) and oration (from outlining speech structure to videotaping the final product for collaborative critique). I also developed and conducted workshops for the Speaking, Arguing, and Writing Center (How to Develop an Argument; Public Speaking). I will begin pursuing a MSLIS at Simmons in January of 2014.
I also worked with a young woman with Autism from June 2009 until April 2010 as a Personal Care Assistant. Likewise, I was involved in the Best Buddies Program at Mount Holyoke College for the 2006/2007 school year. Through the program, I spent one-on-one time with a young man with Asperger's and engaged in fun activities of his choice. I am a mother of a three year old boy, who imparts an immense amount of joy upon my life.
Having missed guiding students to academic success, I look forward to engaging this trajectory once again. I truly enjoy watching students comprehend material and recognize their own capability and talent.
