Excellent, patient, knowledgeable and experienced tutor available to help students in multiple disciplines including, but not limited to: English, grammar, writing, study skills, spelling, reading, public speaking, history, and related subjects, as well as general homework and organization skills. I am particularly gifted in subjects that require critical and original thinking and I have developed strategies to help foster and develop this ability in others.
I have over 10 years of experience tutoring people of all ages (young children to older adults returning to school) and capabilities. As an undergraduate, I helped to develop and run a tutoring and mentorship program for children in grades K-5, during which time I witnessed tremendous academic growth in my students. I have also prepared high school students for their Advanced Placement (AP) and college entrance exams (SAT, SAT II. PSAT, and TOEFL), and worked with college students on their math and writing skills, as well as test preparation (LSAT, GRE).
I provide 1-on-1 instruction in all aspects of English (including, but not limited to, reading comprehension, essay writing, grammar, spelling, or proofreading), history, social studies, and a variety of math/science courses; as well as test preparation (SAT, LSAT, GRE, SAT II, SSAT, PSAT, TOEFL, and Advanced Placement (AP) exams).
Other subjects I tutor include: Law, Spanish language, Philosophy, Psychology, and computer knowledge (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Access, and Microsoft Word).
Elementary education tutoring in math and English is also available (reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, grammar, pre-algebra, etc.).
When I tutor you, you will get proven results which come with graduating from excellent universities and years of one-on-one successful instruction.
I attended Boston College, and graduated with a BA in Political Science and Psychology, in 2002. I then attended Northeastern University School of Law, and graduated with a JD in 2005. Currently, I am a candidate for a Masters of Education in Middle/Secondary Education at the University of Massachusetts Boston (expected, June 2013) and working towards professional certification. I plan on teaching Middle/High School History and/or English. I recently passed one of the MTELs required to receive my teaching licensure and am taking my other tests very soon.
I am also an experienced attorney and am available to assist law/college students with their legal studies, and as well as bar prep. I have over 7 years as a practicing lawyer in both the private and public sectors. My concentration in law was administrative law, insurance law and business and corporate litigation. I am an active member of the Massachusetts bar.
I am available to provide law tutoring at your home, or your law/college library, as well as provide e-mail feedback on your written projects.
I believe that if a student doesn't understand a problem, it is my responsibility to find another way to explain it. As a result, I've picked up a myriad of techniques over the years to explain and help students work through problems. I work with the student to make sure that when I leave for the day, he or she thoroughly understands the lesson of that day. I follow up with difficult problems during the next lesson to reiterate major points.
I love tutoring and I look forward to working with you!
