I taught English to high school students in Israel many years ago. I taught English to new immigrants at the International Institute in Detroit. Cultural differences are so important. It is a pleasure to teach American English, as you hear it on the streets with guidance in pronunciation and idiom. My goal in language teaching is to have the student reach the active goals of speaking and writing in the target language. I also understand what it is like living in another country, adjusting to lifestyle and language changes. Being a first generation American, I spoke French at home. I have traveled extensively to French speaking countries. After taking French Civilization courses at the university graduate level, I have taught high school French courses to honors, and general classes. I understand the problems of American high school students when studying Romance languages. I could be an asset explaining French grammar to high school, or college students.
