Encouraging Tutor-Great with Math,Editing,Creativity,Critical Thinking

Greetings,

Presently I am seeking a part-time position in education to continue my dedication to encouraging learning, and because I greatly enjoy working with both with children and adults.

I have assisted adults with essay writing, school applications, organization, etc.

Recently, I worked as an after-school nanny with two children (now ages 7 & 11) for three years. I assisted them with homework, especially math because that is my best subject and they requested help. Other teaching positions I have had include:

In addition, I was a camp counselor for Elementary aged girls Summer Trails Day Camp (1995-2001)

I lead children to figure out as much as possible on their own, getting them to do any "challenging" work along with me and then on their own "without training wheels". I am aware of the child's experience and needs from my work as a nanny. I am very patient with youth and can work with both introverted and outgoing children.

I am in my early 30s, have two BAs (Visual Art & Sociology) and an MA (Contemporary Art History, Criticism & Theory) and have attached my resume. I can offer my enthusiasm, gentleness, creativity, great organizational skills, love of service and high expectations.

Elementary (K-6th)

Hello, I have worked with kindergarteners through 5th graders. I recently was an after-school nanny for three years with 2 children who are now 7 and 11.

I have worked in various after-school programs.

I am patient, enthusiastic and have high standards. My goal is to make learning meaningful as well as lead children to be self-empowered learners.

I can work with sensitive as well as more outgoing youth.

Swimming

I have been learning swimming since I was a baby, taking classes from the ages of 4-14. I can swim all the popular strokes (I think most strokes except butterfly). I still swim regularly. I can break the movements down easily and have the patience and playfulness to help young kids get comfortable with the water.

Chess

I have been playing and teaching chess since I was in the 4th grade when I won the school championship and was the president of the chess club.

Poker

I have played this much since I was very young-- I know the rules and skills. I am well versed in many card games and chess.

Drawing

I have been drawing what I see with adeptness since I was about 8 years old. I have a degree in Visual Art and a Masters in Art History.

I can teach people of all ages how to draw realistically or get their imagination going.

I am not Picasso (and I haven't been developing my skills as of lately) yet I have natural talent and have been in the arts my entire life.

Cooking

I have been an avid cook and baker since I was very young. I can make simple dishes easily-- eggs, Italian pasta dishes, pancakes, cookies, pies, and I understand cooking temperatures and times, spices, and kitchen utensils. When cooking and baking I usually do not use measurements as my knowledge is keen on how much is great. I have worked as a professional cake maker and decorator. I have my own delicious recipes too.

Art History

I have a Masters in Contemporary and Modern Art History, Criticism and Theory from SUNY Purchase (2007).

I have worked as an art curator in NYC for 10 years.

I have been an artist my entire life, I write art reviews and love encouraging both young and adult artists.

I can draw what I see.
