Welcome to my tutoring page!

My name is Sarah and I am here to help you in your aspirations to becoming a better student in history/ELA and better athlete in soccer.

As far as why you should want me to be your history tutor, I have experience with 1v1 and group study sessions at a collegiate level in varied levels of difficulty (Intro courses through seminar courses). In 2011, I worked for Learning Magic Inc. as a 1v1 tutor in all subjects but specializing in History and Wilson Reading. I am currently a licensed Massachusetts Educator at the Initial level for grades 5-12 in Social Studies and have a Post-Baccalaureate degree from Bridgewater State University in Secondary Education. Since 2011, I have worked as an on-call substitute for 7 school districts: Foxboro Regional Charter School, Norton Public, Attleboro Public, Mansfield Public, Williams School in Bridgewater, and King Philip Regional. Due to my work with children, I am CORI certified. I am currently a priority substitute teacher meaning I am one of the first called if there is a teacher absence- especially for short term assignments in history. I also presently work with both a 5th and 7th grader through their Tutor on Wheels program. Both students have seen improvement in classwork, homework completion, and assessments. I am eager to find out how much they improved on their MCAS scores this year as well.

Currently, I am the assistant coach for a Premiere Soccer Club. I have been working with this club since August 2011 and enjoy my position very much. I currently hold a MYSA E License and am enrolled in the National D License-tentative completion in August 2014. In the Fall, I am the girls junior varsity head coach at a High School. This was my first assignment as head coach for a competitive team, and we finished with a respectable 11-5-2 record. I also work during the winters as a coach for a team at the MPLEX. I work with children grades K-9 to develop footwork skills. I also assist with goalkeeper camp with the a college GK coach. Lastly, I am the soccer instructor at a Day Camp (since 2012). I work with kids ages 4-14 each summer and have a blast with this program!

I have high expectations for my students. But with my cooperation and patience, I can help you become successful in your endeavors. Thank you for visiting my page and I hope to hear from you!

American History

After passing the Massachusetts Test for Educator Licensure (MTEL) in Social Studies Grades 5-12, I applied and received a Preliminary Teaching License for Social Studies Grades 5-12.

Upon achieving this feat, I was accepted into the very exclusive Post-Baccalaureate Accelerated Program at Bridgewater State University in Secondary Education. During my spring semester of 2013, I completed the program's required practicum of 150 hours in a teaching position at Foxborough Regional Charter School as a Social Studies teacher in Spring 2013. I taught two sections of US History I at the 9th grade level developing my own lesson/unit plans, assessments, and classroom management style.

Finally, after graduating from BSU's Post-Baccalaureate Program, I applied and obtained an Initial Massachusetts Teaching License in Social Studies Grades 5-12 in June 2013.

European History

I graduated from UMass Lowell's history department with highest honors in a bachelor of arts program. Many of my classes focused on European studies including The Modern World, 20th Century Europe, Renaissance and Reformation Irish History, World Consumer History, and Inquisition in Medieval Times. I also participated in an honors panel and presented my research on Nazi propaganda geared towards children.

I am also a licensed social studies teacher for grades 5-12 in the state of Massachusetts. My license enables me to teach all subjects related to the social sciences- which include European history.

Government & Politics

I have a B.A. from UMass Lowell in History and a minor in Political Science. I also have recently obtained a teaching license good in the state of Massachusetts for all Social Sciences grades 5-12 (history, psychology, politics, sociology, etc.). During my teaching practicum I student taught an American Government and Politics class as well. My main focuses are on constitutional law and public/social policy making. I taught several lessons while at Foxborough about these subjects with great success.

Soccer

I currently hold an E License for coaching through the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association.

I have been an Assistant Coach for Nova Premiere Soccer Club, U-11 Girls for 4 seasons (Fall 2011, Winter, Spring, and Fall 2012. My club was the Futsal Champions at Forekicks in the Winter.

I have had 15 Years of competitive play experience for the game, including Maple premiere captain and 4 year varsity starter. I was recruited to play for UMass Lowell, a Divison 2 NCAA but declined due to a demanding academic schedule.

I am a certified FIFA referee holding a Grade 8 License for now 7 years.

I was also a soccer counselor for children aged 4-6 at the Tyngsboro Sports Center during my college attendance.

This past summer, I worked as the Soccer Specialist for Everwood Day Camp and created a 9-week curriculum for each age bracket ranging from pre-K--9th grade.

World History

I am also a licensed social studies teacher for grades 5-12 in the state of Massachusetts. My license enables me to teach all subjects related to the social sciences- which include world history. I graduated from UMass Lowell's history department with highest honors in a bachelor of arts program.

Great soccer coach. — Sarah really gets how to work with kids. She teaches skills while making it fun. I have Sarah coaching my 2 boys (7 & 9) and they have made progress and are practicing the soccer moves they have learned. Sarah is reliable, flexible and provides verbal feedback right after the lesson and a full write up later that day. I highly recommend Sarah! ...
