Dear prospective student(s),
I am a college student working towards a B.A. in Biology. I started tutoring this year (2013), helping high school students with math through an on campus organization called Project Coach and biology through my short-term tutoring/observation position at a local high school. I am able to assist students with algebra 1, prealgebra, middle school math, and/or biology. Tutoring will take place at Forbes Library or the Campus Center or Neilson Library at Smith College.
My approach to tutoring is to first find out from the student what areas they are struggling and understand with so that I know how to help them through their coursework. Then I will help them make short-term and long-term goals. Concepts will be clarified through their homework and other class assignments. Supplemental materials will be provided and suggested when necessary. In addition, when there is a quiz or test coming up, I can help the student study for it. I am laid back but also focused. Furthermore, I am very patient and understanding. Obviously what is taught in class is not easy for everyone. I don't expect the student to understand completely after my first explanation of a concept. But, I do believe that if one is willing to put in the time and effort, success will be at their fingertips! I hope to hear from you soon!
