I am a licensed high school teacher with a master's degree in science
teaching. I currently teach biology
and environmental science at a local high school. I am qualified to tutor biology, math
, and test prep (all sections of SAT
, biology SAT II
, and biology MCAS) and am available in the evenings and on most weekends.
In undergraduate, I majored in biology and graduated as valedictorian of my class. I also have a master's of science degree in oceanography. I have worked as a research scientist on several projects both in the lab and in the field. Through my education and my research experiences, I have attained a strong science content background and understand what working as a scientist is really like. I also love writing and my professors have always commented on my writing abilities. I have completed three written theses and have published two peer-reviewed scientific papers.
I have experience tutoring high school students in biology (both school courses and biology SAT II prep), algebra I
, and SAT prep
. I have worked as a college laboratory instructor for both introductory biology as well as anatomy
and have also tutored college students in both of these subjects.
Through these teaching experiences, I have learned how important it is to understand students' thinking so that I can figure out how to best help. I have learned to recognize when students have misconceptions, and I know how to explain topics in multiple ways for students with different learning styles.
Thank you for considering me as your tutor!
