I'm a certified Math Teacher (double majored in Mathematics AND Secondary Education), and especially love working with middle school students. I can help your student catch up, or move on in their understanding of math concepts. Friendly and professional, and proud of what I do.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

In college, I double-majored in Secondary Education and Mathematics. I am fully licensed as a math teacher in Massachusetts, and have taught Algebra 1 in three separate settings over the past few years, with great success, in addition to doing further research on how teenagers best learn Algebra.

Prealgebra

I completed my Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education and Mathematics, and focused on the best approaches to teaching Pre-Algebra concepts to all age levels in a way that makes sense to that particular student, based on prior math knowledge and their abstract reasoning skills. I spent 2 years tutoring Pre-Algebra full-time at a local high school, so I am experienced in best practices and presenting/assessing the material in many different ways.

Study Skills

I am certified as a Middle and High School Math teacher in several states, after completing a degree in Secondary Education. During my student teaching and in subsequent teaching and tutoring positions (both Middle School and High School level), I have integrated grade-appropriate study skill techniques into my lessons. As a result, my students have improved their organization skills and learned how to prepare better in their core classes.
