Hello, I am a young but experienced tutor with a passion for education and a history of success with goal-oriented instruction. I recently graduated from New York University with an individualized bachelor's degree in Politics, Writing, and Theater. I have over four years experience tutoring in a number of academic fields, including SAT prep (all sections), reading, writing, grammar, European and American history, algebra 1 and 2, trigonometry, and geometry. I also have an extensive background in theater as both a director and actor, and I'm more than happy to provide assistance with monologue coaching or audition prep.
I take a unique and personalized approach to all students and subjects. The most crucial period of any tutoring or lesson plan is the initial stage of orientation with the student and understanding his or her needs. After assessing the student's strengths and weaknesses within a particular subject, I find it extremely important to become familiar with the student's study habits and interests in order to tailor my approach, pace, and feedback. Ultimately, a student's success depends on an active, enthusiastic engagement with the topic, and my first goal is to instill a love of learning that fuels academic and creative progress. My hope is that students will see assignments as an opportunity for self-expression rather than merely a task.
My methods require a good deal of hard work and practice, whether it's in the form of practice problem sets, verbal drills, or frequent editing and re-writing. The first requirements of good education are time and patience, but I can guarantee steady improvement with each lesson, reflected in the student's attitude, quality of work, and marks.
Please feel free to contact me for more detailed information, references, or a resume. I look forward to working with you!
