I hold a BA in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science from California State University of Long Beach, which holds great respect in the academic community for degrees issued in Mathematics and Engineering. The degree required the knowledge of pre-algebra, Algebra, Calculus, Permutations and Combinatorics, Differential equations, as well as computer programming skills and analytical thinking courses, among others.
I have worked in the professional sector as a project manager and advisory analyst for a major computer vendor for over 12 years. I have recently worked the past eleven years as a volunteer in both Boy and Girl Scouting as a leader and as a publicity and fundraising manager. I have individually led children from ages 6 up through 14 in lessons to acquire merit badges, gone camping and hold a certificate in First Aid and Infant/Adult CPR.
I have no teaching experience to speak of, although I am working on taking my MTEL very soon, specifically in mathematics. But, I believe that my combined experience in my academic major and my teaching experience in the volunteer community make me a prime candidate to tutor. I will cater the tutoring to the student, including lesson plans derived from the student's textbook and teacher's notes.
