If you suspect your child is not meeting grade-level expectations, is struggling with academics, or has been diagnosed with a learning disability, I can help them reach their fullest potential. I am a warm, nurturing teacher of young children who will inspire and support your child in meeting his or her educational goals. I hold a current Massachusetts License in Preschool/Elementary and Special Education and I have Wilson Language Certification.
As an advocate of Early Intervention, I believe in working with young children to close learning gaps before they result in school failure and low self-esteem. Private tutoring will enable your child to work at his/her own pace while striving to close academic gaps and build confidence. Many reading and math delays can be remediated before they result in school failure. If a learning disability is suspected, early diagnosis and tutoring support will help you understand the underlying causes of and address them through tutoring as well as within the school system. I am available to work as a team member with parents, neuropsychologists and school personnel to insure your child is getting the individualized education needed for them to succeed and overcome their learning challenges.
My expertise includes working with preschool and elementary school age children in reading and math, including those with additional challenges such as ADHD, dyslexia, autism, and executive functioning disorders. Previous students all showed significant gains in reading and math scores and most tested at or above grade level. I have a graduate degree in Education from Wheelock College and a B.S. in Elementary Education/Special Education from Indiana University. I am certified in the Wilson Reading Method. I was a permanent substitute for one year as a fourth Grade Inclusion Specialist in the Easton Public School System as well as a Reading Specialist in a private school in Watertown, MA for seven years. Using highly motivational behavioral strategies, I was often commended for inspiring even the most reticent children to work hard to overcome their reading challenges. After being sought-out by many families as a private tutor, I have discovered my passion for working with children individually in order to help them achieve academic success. I have knowledge and experience working on teams and have represented many students during the Individualized Education Process (IEP).
Please feel free to contact me to discuss how I may help your child achieve academic successes and meet their highest potential.
