Hello! Education is the cornerstone of success. I know this both professionally and personally. My career has afforded me the opportunity to mold children, and guide adults. With specialties in language, behavior and learning disabilities, I especially enjoy work with children and adults who experience difficulties in learning due to ADD/ADHD or those on the spectrum. However, I am interested in providing academic support to any child or adult in need of extra help.
Having a BS in Speech Pathology and a MS in Human Services Administration, I am well prepared to address educational needs and recommend changes to IEPs or 504 plans, where appropriate. Special Education is not, however my limitation. I am quite skilled in providing tutorship to children and adults of all levels, with a forte in English/grammar, math and the sciences.
As children are about to become adults, they need to prepare for that transition effectively. They are about to lose the "safety net" of the public school system. Both parent and child need to fully understand the ramifications of this move. When do you start to plan? What are the real choices? How do you access services? What services are appropriate to my needs?
My experience in educational and human service positions- from direct service to social work and program management- have provided me the knowledge base to effectively guide you and/or your child to the services needed and available. I am well-versed in most disabilities. I raised my own adopted child with multiple medical issues until her death. I can provide you the understanding and empathy needed to find success, whether you have a disability or not. My experience provides me the ability to evaluate your best modality(ies) to learn, and help you tap into them.
Consider me as you assess your needs and the skills in the tutor you seek. But whomever you choose to assist you, I wish you the best in your/your children's educational growth.
