I have classroom teaching experience, social studies certification and was previously certified in English. I have taught in both public and private schools from fifth grade through high school. I am currently working with secondary Special Education students, and have tutored independently and for my public school district, including working with special education students.
Working with such a variety of students, I have developed the ability to adapt to a student's needs and work with students with differing learning styles and abilities. While tutoring the student, I can also work with them on study skills and organization.
As a special education assistant, I have assisted teaching all academic subjects in middle and high school and worked as a 1:1 aide for a students with Aspergers Syndrome and other educational needs.
In addition, I volunteered with gifted students in the Odyssey of the Mind competition and as a youth sports coach. I have also been trained in an S.A.T. Verbal test course and done some S.A.T. tutoring.
My other work experience includes working as a newspaper reporter (with a Journalism Master's) and as a county government recycling coordinator. I have worked at a summer camp for many years and volunteered with grieving children in a camp setting.
