I'm certified as a Massachusetts high school math teacher, and I'm also very familiar with Calculus and other math subjects studied by college undergraduates. I majored in Mathematics, and I spent a year studying it in grad school before deciding that math research wasn't for me. I did enjoy being a teaching assistant (TA) for undergrad calculus students, and I hope to eventually get a job as a high school math teacher.
I've volunteered as a tutor at a group home for teens who've been abused, and that taught me how hard it is for a student to concentrate on their studies when they have much harder struggles to cope with. Still, I believe that I can help any student have a better chance to succeed in school. My tutoring strategy is to let students do as much work they can on their own and ask questions to focus and guide them when they get stuck. I hope you'll give me the chance to try working with you or your child.
