Rather than travel to the site where tutoring is needed, I prefer methods that are more efficient and more productive: Answering questions sent to me by email or cell phone, visiting the student's computer remotely by using the GoToAssist service, and by emailing some files containing macros that I think will benefit the client.
I developed a spreadsheet that is now known as the Forecaster.xls Purchase Order Generator.
It generates purchase orders that are balanced so that the department tends to run low on everything at once. Side effects are typically that inventory is reduced by 25 percent while driving stockouts to nearly zero.
As I developed one app after another, I accumulated a growing library of VBA macros that I port from one app to the next, to speed development. Using it, I have developed an introductory one-size-fits-all app named AppTemplate.xls. It provides macros that perform automatically many useful chores that otherwise would be done manually or not at all. Building a database in Excel is now almost as easy as operating a typewriter.
