I am a college English teacher with 10 years of combined experience teaching writing in English and the Humanities. I have designed and taught courses that range from Basic Writing to an Interdisciplinary seminar for Juniors. I have also served as chair adviser for Senior Capstone thesis projects, and I have advised students on Honors projects connected to my courses.
As an undergraduate, I was a Literature major, and I earned a minor in linguistics (i.e., study of the structure of language). I graduated with with Honors, Highest Distinction in Literature. My graduate work focused mainly on Shakespeare and more generally on poetry, poetics, pedagogy, and historiography in the Early Modern period.
As a writing instructor, I have now worked at a range of colleges and universities including University of California San Diego, Boston College, Mount Ida College, and Brandeis University, where I was a critical reading instructor for international students. I currently teach college writing and research at University of Massachusetts Lowell and Middlesex Community College, where I have also taught developmental writing for several years.
As a professional tutor, I have three years of experience in the Writing Center at Mount Ida College, where I worked with students at every level across the curriculum.
I work well with students one on one, and I have worked successfully with ESL students and students with learning disabilities.
Lastly, I have extensive experience advising students who are applying for college and graduate school particularly on their statements of purpose.
