I am a 2nd year engineering student at the Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering. I have been tutoring high school level math and science for years. I am easygoing and patient. I try hard to bring out the best of all students, encouraging them to find the answers with my help, rather than being fed solutions.
I am also very knowledgeable about the details of standardized testing, with a 2340 on my SATs, and a 5 on the BC calculus exam. I enjoy all types of math and science, and enjoying passing my own understanding onto others.

Calculus

Calculus can be essential for any kind of work in the sciences, and a wide variety of other fields.
1 year of specific tutoring experience. I can teach calculus to anyone- I taught it to myself, and can explain the math in a way that reveals how it is no harder than any math the student already knows. I received a 5 on my BC calculus exam.

Chemistry

I am a Materials Science & Engineering major in college, which is closely related to chemistry. I really enjoy chemistry, and carry that energy to all tutoring sessions. I received a 770 on the SAT II in chemistry, 5 on the AP chemistry exam.

Geometry

Geometry is an area of math that can give students some of the most trouble. I'm here to make it simple. I have years of math tutoring experience, and I know how to help students visualize the often confusing problems. I put extra emphasis on drawing out problems to see the answer, and making sure that I help my students learn how to solve the problem themselves, so they will have a better understanding in the future.

Physics

Physics covers a wide range of both required math and science knowledge. I have over a year of one-on-one of physics tutoring experience, with enormous success. In addition, I personally received an A in both semesters of my college physics class. So can you!

Precalculus

In addition to a complete knowledge of precalculus, I also understand all of calculus, giving me a good understanding of what needs to be prepared for. This makes it easier to teach and prepare the student.
I have two years of one-on-one tutoring experience, giving me an understanding of the difficulties involved.

Trigonometry

Trigonometry is a tricky area of mathematics, that is applicable and needed for many other branches of mathematics. I have an extremely solid understanding of trigonometry. With 2 years of trig/pre-calc tutoring, I have a good understanding of where students get caught up, and how to help them. I believe I can push anyone to understand trigonometry.

SAT Math

I received an 800 in the Math portion of the SAT, and 800 in the Math SAT II. These scores are possible, with the correct effort. I understand the difficulties in both the subject matter itself, as well as the challenge in standardized tests in general.
I have three years of math tutoring experience, and can make mathematics understandable to any student.

SAT Reading

I received a 740 in the reading portion of the SAT, and can help any child do the same. In the case of reading especially, the test can measure not just what you know, but how to take the specific test.
Although I have loved reading and devoured books since I was a child, even people with less of a reading-oriented background can achieve on the SAT.

SAT Writing

I received an 800 on the writing component of the SAT. I occasionally write for pleasure, and read for pleasure often. Much of the test, the writing section especially, simply requires knowing how to take the test. That is something I can teach to anyone.

PSAT

Personally, I got a 227 on the PSAT on my first time, resulting in being a national merit finalist. This is a score that anybody can achieve. I understand both the details of the knowledge needed, and the test-taking strategies that can make the difference in this area. I have a very strong general knowledge of math, writing, and critical reading.

ACT Math

Math can seem challenging, but going slowly and step by step, it can easily become accessible, even fun. I love math, and am studying to be an engineer in college.
Extensive knowledge and 2 years tutoring experience with all areas of high school math.

ACT Science

I love all kinds of science, and I am currently at Johns Hopkins studying engineering and conducting research. Science can be difficult, I can make it easier. I have been tutoring science of one kind or another for over two years.
