Dear Parent:

I am a person who enjoys learning and teaching. I was a stay at home dad for many years; so I spent a lot of time teaching my own children. I believe I would be a great help to your children in (Elementary) math, reading, grammar, writing, spelling, vocabulary, geography and athletics.

I also have a pretty firm knowledge of American History, especially the Civil War Period. I also have an athletic background and know a lot about baseball, football and running as well. I believe that a well rounded and confident individual learns best-something that I aspire to myself.

I am qualified to tutor as I obtained my certification for Elementary Education from Lesley College in Cambridge, MA. I also spent several years as a substitute teacher.

Thank you so much for considering me and I look forward to tutoring your child in the near future!

Sincerely,

Andrew

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Adobe Photoshop

I worked extensively in Photoshop during my last job. I have a background in art and photo manipulation. I have a good eye for this type of work and made a career of it for almost 10 years.

Drawing

I attended and graduated from art school and worked in graphics for many years! I started drawing at an early age. Due to my extensive training, I could help any budding artist!

Elementary (K-6th)

I was previously certified in Elementary Ed. I also substitute taught for many years and am married to a veteran teacher (25 years). I have two daughters in 6th grade and understand younger children quite well. I especially excel in Math and History.

Elementary Math

I have always been strong at math. I was an 'A' student all through high school in math. I love math and find it extremely useful to know every day!

Fitness

I ran track and played football in High School. I am a life long runner and fitness fanatic! I live a balance life which includes proper fitness techniques every day. I can share this very easily!

Reading

I understand the basics of good reading habits. Both of my children are excellent readers-they started very young-as we read to them at an early age. I can help your child learn to read!

SAT Reading

I am qualified to tutor in SAT reading due to my extensive understanding of the English language. I am someone who was tested by my father as a child in writing and reading. I am a very proficient reader and know I can help students to succeed on the SAT. I have also tutored successfully in Math (for WyzAnt) and have my degree in Education from Leslie University (1995). Thank you for your consideration!

SAT Writing

I am qualified to tutor in SAT writing due to my extensive understanding of the English language. I am someone who was tested by my father as a child in writing and reading. I have also tutored successfully in Math (for WyzAnt) and have my degree in Education from Leslie University (1995). Thank you for your consideration!

Study Skills

I was in the top 20% of my high school class. I was an 'A' student in college and could be very helpful to any student who wanted to learn good study skills! I can help anyone who is struggling in this area.

Tennis

I am a life long tennis player and have also taught before successfully. I am currently teaching my daughter to play. I understand the game and athletics in general, very well. I could help any player who is new to the sport with such areas as how to serve, backhand, forehand, scoring, strategy and more!

Track & Field

I have run for most of my life. I also ran track for eight seasons in High School (1/4, 1/2, and mile) and often won. From the basics of stretching to proper nutrition, from sleeping habits to the actual running, I have an excellent understanding of what works for runners!

Web Design

I have a background in graphics arts. I did this for almost 20 years. I have also designed my own website for my company. This website has been successful in gathering clients and displaying what it is my business does. I feel I could help others with designing their own sites.

We do what I call warmups in my home. In the morning before school, my wife and daughters and I work on the Jumble and crossword puzzles. We all enjoy it. What my daughters may be missing is that I view it as a nice "brain warmup" before school. Do you do a form of warmup with your children? What are they doing before (and after) school? Is it it fun, active or educational? My wife... read more

What you expect from a tutor and more. — Andrew, from our experience, has been great. Our son enjoys his lessons and Andrew works to keep him engaged with many innovative approaches. We have combined some drawing with his math, since our son suffers more from boredom in regular class. Andrew in my mind has been spot on with his approach and high energy level. Our son really enjoys a tutor that can speak his language! ...
