My name is Randy and I am a certified as a teacher of Visual Arts in Massachusetts. I hold a Master of Fine Arts degree from Tufts University. I attended Framingham State University for my teacher certification. At both schools I have taken education curriculum courses which involved writing an entire year's curriculum with numerous lesson plans that address the Massachusetts State Learning Standards. my curriculum work includes a curriculum philosophy, essential questions, enduring student understandings, both content and classroom assessment rubrics, student self evaluations and scope and sequence charts.
I am presently a substitute teacher at nine different elementary, middle and high schools and have been a long term substitute on several occasions. I have enjoyed this work for seven years. I am very familiar with public school curriculum, I love children of all ages and I understand their moods, transitions, and behavioral patterns. I have raised two exceptional children now age 27 and 24.
In addition to the school year teaching, I have taught essay writing and public speaking at an SAT preparatory camp held at Tufts University for three summers until 2011 when the camp re-located to Manhattanville College in New York.
As a professional artist, I have taught art at the college level and have conducted private and group art lessons in my studio.
My teaching style is dynamic, not didactic. A dose of levity in a tutoring session can facilitate quicker and more enjoyable learning. I am patient and very concerned with building a student's confidence and self-esteem so they may climb to the head of their class.
In addition to my work mentioned above, I own and operate a 53 acre farm with my husband. I am no stranger to hard work.
As with everything I do, I tend to give 120% effort!
