My name is Emily, I am 22 years old and a recent graduate of the University of Rochester in Upstate New York. At university, I majored in international relations, with "cluster studies" in Spanish, public health and brain studies. For my major, I have taken many courses involving history, economics, politics, Spanish, and statistics.
I'm the recipient of college academic scholarships, including the Needham Rotary Club Scholarship, and would like to share my love of learning with all students.
I have tutored inner-city Boston and Rochester students ranging in ages from elementary through high school students in many subject areas including reading, writing, test prep, and organization/study skills. I served as a teaching assistant for students in 3rd and 4th grade for six years in high school, and therefore am comfortable teaching students of all ages.
I remember very well my college application experience and would love to help tutor students in various aspects of the college preparation process as well, including help with SAT/ACT exams, college essay/resume creation, interviews, and general college-readiness help.
I'm patient and easy going, organized and reliable.
I can help you achieve your academic goals by making a plan together.
I served as a Teacher's Assistant in a 3rd grade classroom for 3 years, followed by an additional 3 years in a 4th grade classroom. As a teacher's assistant, I helped to prepare materials for class, assisted students in completing worksheets and assignments and served as a mentor to students. In these 6 years I met many wonderful students and learned different methods of teaching students of varying ages. I am very patient and understand that every student learns at their own pace.
I am a recent university graduate of the University of Rochester, a very competitive school where I spent 4 years studying International Relations and honing my organizational skills. During the 4 years, I successfully juggled 4 classes a semester, a part-time job, 2 semesters of independent research, a legal internship, and a semester studying abroad.
I'm the recipient of 2 significant college academic scholarships, including the Needham Rotary Club Scholarship and a collaborative scholarship from the University of Rochester and Needham High School, called the "Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass Award".

Lastly, I am a very organized person myself at home and at work. I served as an Office Assistant for about 2 years with my main tasks being organizational office duties (including filing, syncing paper files with computer system, data analysis). I am a big fan of keeping organized through writing things down in a planner, using colored markers/highlighters and Google Calendar.
