Leslie has been an educator of both young children and teachers of young children for over 30 years. She has taught at the college level in several curriculum areas (language & literacy, science, and mathematics) and always teaches writing skills to her students so that they may best complete the written assignments for their coursework. Leslie uses both traditional and non-traditional methods of teaching writing. She believes that getting your thoughts and ideas down on the paper is the most important and creative part of the writing process. After that, you can learn techniques for organizing those ideas into a clear and coherent flow.
Leslie's teaching experience includes living and teaching abroad in Kenya, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia. She has worked with many teachers and children who speak English as a second language and taught a course (Supporting Preschoolers' Language Differences) to teachers working with children who communicate in multiple languages.
Leslie is a published writer in her field of early education. Aside from articles in professional journals and magazines, she has self-published a non-fiction picture book on the science inherent in water play and is working on another book about early number concepts.
