ADD/ADHD

I have a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education/English and a Master's of Education. Courses included teaching strategies for students with ADD/ADHD. I have over a dozen years experience teaching students and adults with ADD/ADHD. Some of my strategies have included: establishing a calm environment, being clear and concise with information and directions, helping student become better organized, giving frequent and specific praise, taking advantage of technology, and sharing good news with families.

Aspergers

I have a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education/English and a Master's of Education. Courses included teaching strategies for students with Asperger's. I have over a dozen years of experience teaching students with Asperger's. As students with Asperger's can be highly sensitive to their environments, some of the teaching strategies I employ are: ensuring their environment is as predictable as possible; keeping transitions the same for as many learning activities as possible; creating a daily routine is critical. Students should know what to expect of the routine as this would help them to function properly and concentrate on the tasks at hand; spending time preparing students for any special activities using a systematic approach. (For example, create a schedule that includes a "special activity" segment as preparation.); utilizing visuals frequently; and scheduling time into the schedule for students to ask specific questions.

Gives Confidence to Students I want to thank Paula for helping my son prep for the ACT. He was having issues with finishing the Reading and Science sections in time. Paula gave him tips to finish the section in time and was very helpful in analyzing the passages. She is very polite and gives a great deal of confidence to the students. Thanks, Paula! ...
