I am presently making a career transition after working as a social worker for 22 years. I studied at Salem State University in their Graduate Education Program in Teaching English Language Learners, and am licensed to teach English Language Learners by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

I have taught English Language Courses to adults through the Everett Adult Learning Center and have thoroughly enjoyed working with highly motivated students who are immigrants and refugees. My students' native languages include Spanish, Haitian-Creole, Brazilian Portuguese, Arabic, French and Vietnamese. In addition, I served as the agency's Coordinator of Curriculum Development.

I have also have experience working with children ranging in age from First Grade to Eighth Grade. I completed my student practicum to obtain my teaching license teaching Grades 5-8 at Browne Middle School in Chelsea.

As a social worker, I have worked with people from a variety of cultures and backgrounds and enjoy learning from my students/clients. I learned as a social worker how important it is for persons living in the United States to master the English in order to take full advantage of the opportunities available in this country. In addition to teaching English language, I also aim to teach students about American Culture and history to assist them in adapting to a foreign environment.

I seek to empower my students to flourish in the United States. Teaching is a creative profession, and I am flexible in adjusting my teaching to meet the student's goals. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and welcome the opportunity to work as a tutor.
