Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Anthropology

I have passed a number of your tests in related areas and I have a degree in History from Boston College. I also have passed the history teacher license exam for Massachusetts. I have also tutored students in the subject in the past.

CBEST

The CBEST test covers the same material that is covered on test such as the MCAS, GED, and TEAS. I have successfully prepared students who have passed the GED, MCAS and TEAS exams. I am also certified by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to teach all of the subjects covered on the CBEST. I feel that these facts qualify me to tutor students for the CBEST exam.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have worked with a number of students in the K-6 range, both as a tutor and classroom substitute teacher. I am also licensed as a classroom history teacher for grades 5-8 by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. I also have years of experience as a youth baseball coach.

GED

I have great admiration for individuals who are focused on earning their GED. It show a tremendous amount of courage to face this type of challenge. I find that the most difficult aspect of the process for students is getting past the fear of facing material that is unfamiliar to them. I believe that working together we can build both skills and confidence and that students will find that they have abilities that they never realized they possessed.

Religion

I have passed a number of your tests in related areas and I have a degree in History from Boston College, which required a number of religious studies credits. I also have passed the history teacher license exam for Massachusetts. I have also tutored students in this area in the past.

Social Studies

I have passed a number of your tests in related areas and I have a degree in History from Boston College. I also have passed the history teacher license exam for Massachusetts.

Study Skills

One component that I emphasize with students with whom I work is the necessity of proper study skills. Organization and productive practice habits play a large role in academic success. I believe that I am qualified for this certification.

TEAS

The TEAS (Test of Essential Skills) is an examination that is comprised of tests in Reading, Mathematics, Science, and English and language Usage.
I have helped prepare students in the past in their preparation for the TEAS exam. I have increased their skills and confidence in dealing with the basic number sense as well as the algebra and geometry that make up the math section of the TEAS. My experience also as an English and science tutor has been invaluable in helping prepare students for this exam. I have prepared students for the reading, vocabulary, and grammar sections of the TEAS, as well as in the areas of life science, biology geology, and chemistry. Besides my experience in preparing students for this test, I also am certified by WyzAnt in all of the individual subject areas that the TEAS exam covers. I am also licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to teach the subjects that this exam covers

-4(5w+x)+5(x-3w) (answer)

Ronda,            You would begin by clearing out your parenthesis. You would multiply both 5w & x by -4 and then you would multiply both x & 3w by 5 this would look like this:   (-4)(5w) + (-4)(x) + (5)(x) - (5)(3w)...

Kassandra,                   This is a subjective question. Your opinion is just as valid as anyone else's. I would start by listing reasons why you feel that the Cold War raged throughout the 50's and 60's...
