I am a recently returned Peace Corps volunteer. I was trained to be a high school math and science teacher, but also was the school nurse, counselor, dorm supervisor, scout leader, English/geography/art/health tutor, and I started the first aid club. I lived in a small village in northern Kenya, taught for over two years at a girls' boarding school and learned that every student is an individual. While most of my teaching was in classrooms of 50+ students, what I discovered is that individuality is what is most important. I try to never let students slip through the cracks, and I know that no matter the students' grades or background, with some extra support and attention, there will be improvement.
