Hi, my name is Kendall and I'm an undergraduate student majoring in international relations and Spanish at Tufts University (outside of Boston). I would love to tutor your child in either English or Spanish!
A fluent Spanish speaker, I have done summer programs both in Spain and Peru and am enrolled in upper level Latin American literature courses in college. I have been studying Spanish since middle school and received a score of 780 on the SAT II in Spanish. I currently volunteer with CORES in Somerville, MA, teaching literacy (in Spanish) to Spanish-speaking immigrants. I enjoy looking at languages through different angles, so I would be happy to come up with a teaching strategy suited to your child's specific needs.
In addition to Spanish, I tutor K-12 English. I am a straight-A English student and was captain of my high school's speech and debate team. I am also a published playwright and received a score of 770 on the SAT II in literature. I can work with your child on reading comprehension, writing skills, proofreading, essay development, research papers, speeches, and grammar.
I have worked for two years at a summer camp, so I have experience working with all ages of kids. I also volunteered as a peer tutor in high school and know that everyone has different learning styles. I will create an individualized plan with your child to achieve his or her goal, be it completing a project or college application, establishing study habits, or building the foundations for more long-term learning goals. I am happy to travel to your home or another location in the area, or to tutor via Skype. I look forward to hearing from you!
