Hello!
My name is Meg F., and I am interested in working as a tutor for your child!
To provide some background information about myself and my qualifications, I am currently a ninth grade teacher. I work with students who have moderate, language based learning disabilities as an ELA and Reading teacher. My MA teaching certifications are in English 5-12 and Moderate Disabilities 5-12; I am also certified in Orton Gillingham, a research-based multisensory reading program. I co-teach Math with the head of the district's Math Department; I co-teach Bioogy with the head of the district's Science Department.
We provide differentiated, multi-sensory instruction that aligns with state standards and the ninth grade CORE curriculum. I am qualified in delivering instruction that is tailored to the needs of each student, whether it involves relating the material to real-world situations, using graphic organizers, incorporating visual, auditory, and kinesthetic components, etc., according to a style that incorporates over learning to reach automaticity.
I believe that in order to be an effective teacher, learning must be meaningful and interesting, so this is what I do. I enjoy watching progression and sparking student passion by making my lessons interesting and accessible in order to master a given concept.
If I can answer any more questions for you, please feel free to ask! I look forward to hearing from you!
Best,
Meg
