As a Social Studies teacher at Marblehead High School, I've had the opportunity to work with students of different ages, abilities, and backgrounds. Although Social Studies is my specialty (and my passion!) I also have a strong background in English, including reading, writing and proofreading. I love what I do, enjoy the energy and enthusiasm of the students, and hope to foster in my students a curiosity about the world around them and a love for learning.
Before taking my current position at Marblehead, I worked in various fields of education, and I worked with many different age groups and education levels. For several years, I was a teacher in a daycare center that catered to children from infancy through around age 13. While in college at Boston University, I tutored students at a Charter High School in Boston, where I gained experience in tutoring reading, writing, SAT and ACT prep.
As a teacher, I know that patience, calm and a positive attitude are the most important things to use when dealing with students of all ages. As a tutor, I would focus on the student's problem areas, play on his strengths, and help the student develop study skills that will help them in any class.
