I have years of experience mentoring and tutoring graduate and undergraduate college students, young adults and children.
My teaching philosophy is to teach and provide tools so the student could eventually be able to succeed on his/her own. I concentrate on developing Scientific thinking through leading questions. With young students, I play games, build puzzles and work on logic riddles in addition to their regular curriculum, to develop math and scientific thinking.
I tutor Cell Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Genetics and Physiology at college levels, high school level Biology and General Science and Math K-8.
In addition to science, languages and linguistics is my other passion. I also teach Hebrew and Russian, both adults and children. Although at first, one might think that the two languages could not be more different, but they are both based on "roots" and the modern Hebrew was developed by a person whose first language was Russian. I am fluent in both Hebrew and Russian and familiar with the culture as well.
I have tons of patience and experience working with ADD/ADHD children. I received my Ph.D in Cancer Immunology from Hebrew University, Jerusalem, Israel and I conducted my post-doctorate academic research at Harvard Medical School trying to understand the players leading to Cancer development and drugs that will be more efficient. A couple of years ago I moved to the Biotech industry concentrating on personalized medicine approach to treatment. I have years of experience mentoring and tutoring graduate and undergraduate college students, young adults and children.

I started seeing Rosalia about halfway through a term in which I was taking a 200-level cell biology class. I went from a D average to ending the term with a B after I started working with her. She is very knowledgeable, and was always available. She'll answer any question you have by email if you forgot to ask in a session and she does a very good job of relating the material learned in the course to real world examples. I definitely do not regret having started seeing her for help.
Rosalia is an extraordinary tutor. My freshman daughter was having a very hard time understanding biology until she started sessions with Rosalia...she even scored in the advance level on the MCAS after working with Rosalia! She is also very patient, easy to schedule with and extremely knowledgeable.
Rosalia is patient and offers good feedback for speaking and writing Hebrew. She explains things during sessions and is good about pulling in outside resources as well. Appointments are easy to set up and have definitely helped me improve; Rosalia is very helpful and patient and a great person to have a conversation with!
We hired Rosalia as a tutor for my daughter in genetics. She is a student at Boston University and needed some additional study methods. Rosalia not only went over all the material, my daughter says Rosalia has the unique ability to relate genetics to real life situations and uses great examples. She has did really well on her last exams, and has the added confidence going into finals week. Thank you Rosalia for all of your help.
Signed: A very proud DAD
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

During games children can learn the basics of mathematical thinking and concepts like, measurement, comparison, logic and more. I have years of experience working with young children on school curriculum, and extra school math activities like Math Olympics.
