Math Tutor for Midde and High School Students

Hello!

I am a middle and high school math tutor. I make math simple, fun to learn, and applicable to life. Working as a tutor in local Boston public schools through Boston Partners in Education, I have tutored a wide population of students. Therefore, I am very familiar with making lessons and accommodations to help the individual student with a diverse learning style so he or she can progress in school.

With a Master’s degree in Engineering, I have worked as an engineer for 20 years and as a technical high school teacher for five years. Thus, I have an acute ability to teach young people a varied usage of mathematical concepts while developing their ability to reason and think mathematically. Specifically, I enjoy encouraging students towards higher education. Because I am bilingual in English and Spanish, I also enjoy teaching math to culturally and linguistically diverse students.

For middle school students (grades 6-8) and high school students (grades 9-12), I tutor mathematics, including basic math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, Probability and MCAS test preparation.

Learn some rules for the order of operations. Evaluate whole-number expressions using these rules. Translate a word problem into an arithmetic expression, and then evaluate. "PEMDAS" is used as a mnemonic. Define variable. Understand the difference between a numerical and an algebraic expression. Translate verbal phrases into algebraic expressions.

Spanish

I am a native Spanish speaker born and raised in Argentina. I have been living in the USA for a decade; and I speak and write English and Spanish fluently. I offer Spanish language tutoring and/or cultural diversity lessons for K-12 students and adults.
