I am a 34 year old married father of two daughters who has taken on a new career in teaching. I began my Master's program in January of 2010 and will have my coursework completed in June of 2011. Once I complete a practicum, I will have my Master's in Elementary Education 1-6. In the meantime, I have worked for the entire 2010-2011 school year as a student support facilitator in the Natick School system. My experiences have ranged from 1-1 and small group instruction, to whole class instruction. I have worked in mainstream classrooms, as well as special education classrooms. I have also received my certification in crisis management with mild restraint. My experiences in working with elementary aged children dates back to 1993 when I began coaching Little League Baseball in Stoughton, and I continued to do so for 11 years.

I am extremely passionate about my new career path and I look forward to continue my professional growth. I have worked with students of varying abilities, and one of my greatest attributes is my patience and understanding with those differences in learning style and speed.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have been working in the Natick Public School system for the past year. I began doing one to one work with a 6th grade student, and then worked primarily in a third grade inclusion classroom. I have worked with students in the learning center, doing both one to one and small and large group instruction as needed. I have also worked with students with both behavioral and cognitive issues. I have led small and large group instruction in a variety of subjects, including math, literacy, social studies, writing and science. I have assisted in administering assessments, both formative and summative.
