I am coming back to teaching after a 2 year absence, as my heart misses helping students daily. At the present time, I substitute teach in the Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School. I have also worked in the Melrose after school program called Education Station. I currently hold a license in Massachusetts to teach 5-8 mathematics.
Growing up outside the city of Detroit, Michigan I attended Wayne State University where I earned my bachelor’s degree in education, working in both the urban and rural sections of Detroit, and then doing a semester at the Children’s Museum in downtown Detroit. I moved to Malden in January of 2001 and worked in the 7th and 8th grade at the Garfield School in Revere, MA until 2003. After taking a 7th grade math position August of 2003 in Malden, I pursued my license and enhanced my professional development with classes that helped me be a better teacher and a master classroom manager. In 2007, taking all math classes, I earned my master’s degree at Lesley University, in education. I coached all middle school sports at the Beebe school in Malden, and coached the freshman boy’s basketball for 3 years at Malden High.
I currently raise 2 beautiful children ages 7 and 4, as a single parent in these trying economic times. These two drive me to be a better person, but most importantly a better teacher and team member. It is my goal to combine my wide range of experience with my ability to be patient and compassionate to positively influence the lives of students. I am very excited about this tutoring opportunity.
