Hello, my name is Roger H.

I have successfully tutored students in many subjects: math through calculus; history (including US history, Western Civ, and Modern European history); advanced and introductory Latin; AP English; SAT/SSAT prep; physics; and biology. I help students find passion in the world of ideas (not school, academia, or homework - blah!). Finding passion allows students to apply their efforts to school work in the larger context of their lives.

I earned my undergraduate degree in philosophy from Montana State University - Bozeman. I then began graduate work in philosophy at Boston University. I am currently a doctoral student at the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis. I have been tutoring middle and high school boys and girls since 2010.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have been tutoring math, reading, writing, vocabulary, and standardized tests for 3 years. My students develop a love of learning through a variety of creative, reflective, and enjoyable exercises.

Golf

For those interested in learning and enhancing their skills, I offer a hands on experience focusing on "finding" one's swing within the context a basic fundamentals. Golf is truly a sport where one's personality is easily recognizable in one's course demeanor and mechanics.

Logic

Logic is the study of the relationship betwen words and concepts. Exploration begins with understanding the basic ways concepts interact with a special focus on "if, then" statements. Once this is mastered, we begin exploring how mathematics and the natural sciences "reason logically" and how our basic understandings of natural laws develop from basic relationships between words and objects.

Social Studies

Social studies explores the relationship between individuals and their government at a pre-high school level. Main topics covered include the branches of government, the different styles of demoncracy, citizen responsibilities, and the rule of law.

I prefer to teach the concepts in this course within the context of historical examples, and special focues on the development of democratic ideals developed in ancient Greece.

You can buy one of our standard 5, 10 or 15% packages or customize your own package based on how much tutoring you need.
