Hello!

My name is Kristie and I would love to be a tutor to you or your child. I combine patient teaching with a genuine love of education. My undergraduate degree is in Elementary Education and while my student teaching and first teaching job was in Maryland, I live in Massachusetts now.

I have been in sales and marketing for many years, but the teacher in me is always present. As a part-time job, I taught Civil War studies classes for many years to people of all ages. I am proficient in American History and Social Studies for Elementary students.

I also am a published author so I have a love of words and books. It is a natural thing for me to teach reading skills and writing, including grammar and spelling.

I am so looking forward to getting back into teaching and am taking the tests for my Massachusetts teacher's license. I also am enrolled at Concordia University to obtain my Master's in Education, majoring in Curriculum and Instruction.

Marketing

I have been in the marketing field for many years. My experience includes Director of Marketing at the Hampton Inn Frederick in Maryland, the Director of Sales and Marketing for three New England hotels and now I am a Marketing Consultant, working for those hotels and others.

Microsoft Outlook

As part of my years in Marketing, Sales and Office Management, I have always used Microsoft Outlook as my email program. I have used the Contacts feature, the Calendar, I have formatted the email, changed email preferences for sending, receiving, out of office, set up the Address Book and Managed Folders. I would be a good resource for people who wanted to use Outlook.

Social Studies

My degree in Elementary Education from Mount Saint Mary's prepared me for teaching Social Studies. I also am a published author of historic fiction. My specialty is the Civil War, which is included in the elementary Social Studies curriculum. I have created a documentary for PBS and have lectured in various elementary schools. One of my goals with my Master's degree, the program I am in enrolled in presently, is to re-do Social Studies textbooks so they are more interactive and engaging.

Microsoft Publisher

In my many years in the Marketing field, I have used Microsoft Publisher for three-fold brochures, flyers, posters, certificates and more. I will discuss templates, and tips and tricks necessary for working successfully within a document.
