My teaching style is primarily based in being interactive & observant. Teachers/Tutors and students can learn from each other; and when necessary,it's imperative to make changes to assure that comprehensive learning is happening.
My interest & commitment to tutoring began in 1983, during my sophomore year at Brown University. One of my genuine passions is the well-being of youth & young adults within the context of education. Tutoring has proven to be the means for me to "pay forward" this passion.
My personal philosophy is "I am a student of life and a lifelong student."
My favorite educational quote is "Education is our passport to the future; for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today" (Malcolm X).
On a personal note, I am an entrepreneur, teacher, mentor, creative writer (published,) activist, motivational speaker, and retired professional basketball player. My professional certifications include the Massachusetts Mentoring Partnership, the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship, and (upon completion of process) the American Tutoring Association. Additionally, I am fluent in Conversational Spanish and Portuguese.
For leisure, I enjoy spending quality time with family and friends, attending arts and cultural events, basketball, biking, creative writing, movies (especially classics), reading, tennis, traveling, and walking.
