As an educator, I have worked with an extremely diverse body of learners throughout my career. After graduating from the University of Massachusetts in 2000, I taught literacy skills in an under-served south Seattle elementary school as an AmeriCorps volunteer. I then traveled overseas as a WorldTeach volunteer and implemented an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) program for an Eco-tourism company based in the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador. After returning to the United States, I have been working within the Lowell Public School system, in grade levels and academic areas such as Physical Education, History, Economics, ESL and, most recently in my area of certification, English. I am now exploring other opportunities where my diverse skills and background can be of service.
As outlined in my resume, most of my experience is in teaching English Language Arts; however, I am a well rounded individual with an extremely diversified background. I currently hold an initial teaching license in English from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (grades 5-8 & 8-12), and I am a certified College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) Master – Level III tutor. I am also pursuing a M.A. in English at Fitchburg State University where my two focuses of study are 20th Century American Literature and Composition & Rhetoric.
