Hi! I'm a recent graduate of Yale University (3.8 GPA and 2330 SAT's). I have been doing childcare (from infants to teens) and basic tutoring for years (from elementary through high school). I would be happy to tutor a wide range of ages and subjects, but my specialties are English, Writing, Social Studies/History and Spanish. I'm also happy to do test prep, essay editing, college applications, and even basic help with organization and staying on task. Both school and the college application process can be difficult and frustrating for any kid, and sometimes all it takes to succeed is the help of a caring, patient and knowledgeable tutor.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

College Counseling

Having gone through the college application process myself not too long ago I believe I have a great understanding of the difficulties facing prospective college students today. I was very successful (I was accepted into several Ivy League universities including Harvard and Yale) and can help share my strategies with hopeful young students. Aside from having great SAT scores, I spent a ton of time working on my personal essay and I believe this was an incredibly important asset. Many students struggle with their personal essays and having not only written one myself, but later having studied short story and essay writing extensively at Yale as well as having helped many students in writing their own essays through freelance tutoring I believe I'm a great candidate to help new students craft and edit their personal essays.

I'm also great at helping students with the general organization needed to wade through the mess of college applications and keep on top of all the various requirements. In tutoring previous students I've been able to give advice, edit work, and guide them through difficult tasks while maintaining a calm and relaxed atmosphere.
