I have been programming computers since I was 12 years old and I can share that passion and experience with you!

I specialize in tutoring MATLAB through either a structured lesson plan or by attacking specific projects that you are working on. I have expertise not only in basic programming, reading and writing files, and drawing graphics, but also more advanced topics like non-linear fitting of multidimenstional data, object-oriented programming, and creating graphical interfaces.

I am well-qualified with B.S. in Physics, M.S. in Biophysics, and Ph.D. in Biophysics that all utilized computer programming. My computer programs have been featured in peer-reviewed scientific journals and websites where they are used by hundreds of other researchers. I have also received awards for my teaching from the Columbus Library System in Ohio.

I have a 12-hour cancellation policy and I offer make-up classes.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

I look forward to working with you!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Computer Programming

I have been programming computers since I was 12 years old, working through many languages: BASIC, Excel, C, C++, Java, HTML, Perl, Unix and shell scripting, MATLAB, Python, etc.

I also completed three undergraduate computer science courses at the University of Rochester (NY).

As part of my PhD dissertation, my MATLAB programs have been published in peer-reviewed journals and have been used by over a hundred other scientific researchers.
In 2012, I taught a 6 week long MATLAB programming course at Northeastern University for 12 students.

Over the past 10 years, I have tutored at least 50 students in programming MATLAB.

My teaching methods include one-on-one problem solving, one-on-one structured lesson plans, and group lectures. I also use homework assignments to bolster learning through independent study.

I have been programming computers since I was 12 years old, working through many languages: BASIC, Excel, C, C++, Java, HTML, Perl, Unix and shell scripting, MATLAB, Python, etc.

I also completed three undergraduate computer science courses at the University of Rochester (NY).

I have been using some flavor of Linux on my home and work computers for over 8 years. I regularly use the UNIX console and shell scripting for basic and advanced operations as part of my job as a scientific researcher and for routine tasks at home.
