Hello potential tutees, I am a college graduate from Eastern Connecticut State University. At ECSU I was a physics and geology tutor mainly. I also in my time there tutored chemistry, meteorology, physical biochemistry, and mathematics. Classes that I tutored ranged from 100 level classes up to advanced classes. Also upon graduation I tutored high school level shortly until I got a full-time job as an environmental scientist, for an environmental consulting agency for 2 years. I recently left my job as an environmental scientist to pursue being an academic again, because being a tutor is the most fulfilling job I have ever had, and I enjoy helping people understand how to problem solve and understand how scientific processes work. There is no greater achievement than watching the proverbial light bulb go off in someone's mind.
I often implement the Socratic method when tutoring. This is how I keep clients engaged and lead the client into solving the problems themselves. I believe this is the best way to keep lessons retained, so that the client can excel in the classroom environment without me. In my experience as a tutor I have watched students I have tutored go from failing marks to B averages in classes, I do not believe in doing the work for the client, I believe in aiding the client in reaching an understanding in their work so that they can reach the potential that resides inside everybody to be the best the can be.
