***NOW SCHEDULING SUMMER HOURS***
Plan ahead for summer reading, test prep, organization, regression prevention, or curriculum previewing. Very flexible schedule.
Thank you for taking the time to explore my profile. I have been in education for about 10 years. I have my teaching license in English and Special Education, as well as my Master in Teaching from Regis College.
Currently I am a special education teacher at a vocational high school. I work with students with moderate special needs. In my job, I spend my days tutoring/re-teaching students in English, Algebra I/II, Geometry, Biology, Chemistry, US History, World History, as well as MCAS preparation. I have designed and implemented a study skills program through the Academic Support classes that I teach. In addition to teaching Academic Support classes, I have co-taught English, Algebra 1, US History, Health and Human Biology, and Chemistry.
At my previous school, a middle school, I was also a special education teacher. Part of my duties included teaching sixth grade English and seventh and eighth grade math skills. My role as a special educator included co-teaching English, Pre-Algebra, General Science, and World History.
In addition to teaching curriculum and study skills, as a special educator, I have written and implemented Individualized Education Programs. I understand the learning needs of students with a variety of learning related disabilities.
As student at Regis College, I was taught how to present material in different ways to help different types of learners gain access to the curriculum being taught. I have found it beneficial to my students to present or re-teach material through visuals, auditory materials , and hands-on or movement activities. Over the ten years I have been in education, I have collected and used a wide variety of teaching strategies and tools. It is my goal to make learning as engaging and fun as I can.
I am a creative, highly organized, outgoing, and easy to work with teacher. I have been praised for my teaching and tutoring performance by employers, colleagues, students, parents, and my own instructors.
