I have spent the last five years tutoring mathematics for the Academic Achievement Center at Bridgewater State University. My tutoring experience includes teaching topics in college algebra, precalculus, trigonometry, calculus I,II & III, statistics and discrete math. Additionally, I have operated my own private tutoring business during the same time period and have taught many students ranging from elementary school through college level in many math topics including high school geometry.
I have a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from BSU and am currently completing a minor in education. I have been accepted into the Professional School of Education at BSU and am preparing for Massachusetts teacher licensure for secondary level education. Also, I am a member of PI MU EPSILON, a Professional Math Society.
My teaching philosophy is simply that every student can learn, achieve and succeed in mathematics if they have the correct, positive attitude and are willing to work hard. I am passionate about teaching mathematics and enjoy seeing students develop excellent study and learning abilities over time. I include a lot of positive reinforcement during my tutoring sessions, reassuring my students that they can learn and succeed. My positive approach allows my students to relax and start focusing on the material to be learned. I have had excellent success in motivating students and creating real results in academic achievement.
I welcome the opportunity to share my mathematical knowledge, effective study skills and positive learning approach with new students.
