My primary focus with students is all levels of High School Physics (including Honors and AP) and Introductory/Intermediate College Physics, AP Calculus, and AP Statistics. I also help students with Precalculus and Algebra.

I love to teach and enjoy helping students do their best! I provide individualized attention to the students' specific needs, focusing on critical thinking, problem solving, and communicating information in the way scientists and mathematicians do. My clients are in grades 10-12 and in college, taking various levels of math and physics courses. I have helped students who either struggle in their physics and math subjects, or who are doing well and want to do better. I understand the investment you are making in tutoring and strive to make the most of it by making the sessions efficient and productive.

***I do require that students communicate with me about their classes throughout the week, so that I can proactively prepare for our sessions to make them productive.***

I am an experienced and certified teacher with over 10 years of collective experience in teaching. Currently, I am teaching Honors and AP Physics, AP Calculus, and AP Statistics at Cathedral High School, MA. I have also successfully prepared students for the AP Physics exam, and even the physics portion of the Sonography certification exam.

I take great care to challenge my students and build their skills. My students tell me that I make the complicated easy. While physics and math are NOT easy, they can certainly be easier. I keep the tutoring sessions light and try to make them fun, so that the students don't feel like learning is a chore.

I have a Master's degree in Physics from the University of New Hampshire and have taught at Lynnfield High School and at Pingree School. I've tutored numerous students throughout graduate school, while teaching high school, and working in corporations as a science, math and engineering writer and Information Architect. I am happy to say that I helped many students succeed in their physics, math, and general science classes.

While doing my undergraduate studies at Colgate University, I took on a senior research project to build a device that measured surface roughness of thin-film surfaces. I am told that this device is still in use at Colgate today. After I graduated from Colgate University with a B.A. and Honors in Astronomy and Physics, I was awarded a Pew Scholarship to be a Research and Teaching Assistant at Cornell University, where I built an infrared photomultiplier to study radiation from newly-forming stars. We used this device with the Hale Telescope at Palomar mountain in CA. At Cornell, I assisted professors with various undergraduate Astronomy and Physics courses. After Cornell, I was offered funding to attend the graduate program at the University of New Hampshire. Throughout my education, I continued to offer academic assistance to my peers and tutored many students.

While tutoring, I diagnose the student's capabilities and focus on the areas that need assistance. We practice problem solving and I help the student understand the concepts and the mathematics behind the solution approaches. I also ask questions to help the student build deeper insights and to help prepare for exams.

I have helped students with organization, study skills, and test preparation. I give students frequent assessments to gauge their progress, which they can complete on their own time - and not on tutoring time.

I travel to your home (within the radius specified on my WyzAnt profile) or to a convenient public location, such as a Public Library. An adult must be present during the tutoring sessions for students under 18.

I look forward to working with you and helping you to accomplish your absolute best!
