Hello,
I am a young retired school teacher who is now working as a private tutor. I taught public school math for 18 years.
Teaching is a a unique skill above and beyond the subject matter and teaching experience is what is important when choosing a tutor. Now that I have left teaching public school math, 15 yrs of middle school and 3 yrs of high school, I am tutoring. I have a personal library of supplementary resources, including MCAS prep, and will plan specific lessons to address the student's specific needs.
I currently have student's whose parents are very happy with their child's improved test grades and confidence. I plan the session around an outline of what the student's teacher is covering in class. We will review and continually spiral information for retention, and I will introduce new topics "before" they are covered in class. This gives the student an edge of confidence and is a good strategy to improve term grades throughout the school year.
