Bridgewater State University, Junior (English and Theater Arts)
I am a Commonwealth and Departmental Honors student with a double major in English with a Writing concentration and Communications with a concentration in Theater Arts. I began tutoring through the National Honor Society at my high school. My grade point average after my first semester of my junior year of college is a 3.956. I have helped many friends and students of various ages with math, science, and English assignments as well as Bible studies, reading, Spanish and public speaking, and have been an honor roll student since the beginning of middle school. I take pride in academic excellence and strive for understanding as well as high marks. I deeply value education in all subject areas. I try to make subject material memorable and less daunting.
I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. This is because I cannot fit in another student on such short notice, and I clear my schedule for these lessons. Also, I may not see a cancellation message in time. For late cancellations, I charge half of what would have been charged for the full lesson. If a student fails to notify me of a cancellation before the lesson, or before I have to leave to be at the proper location on time, I will charge for a full lesson.
In addition to traditional lessons, I am available for Skype lessons and for proofreading via email. Hello,

My daughters are very pleased with Caitlin, they enjoy having her tutor them, and I couldn't be happier to have a tutor that is so eager to teach and works well with kids. Very professional!
Caitlin is wonderful. She is patient and attentive. My daughter can be difficult and Caitlin was great as she waited her out. Thank you.
Caitlin has been working with my three children, and has them very interested in their summer reading. They are excited to meet with her and go over their summer reading packets. Caitlin is extremely punctual, and organized, She is also very pleasant, and patient. She's been great!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a very religious Christian. I have been a teacher's aid in Sunday school at my Church, and I was at the head of my Sunday school graduating class. This year, I am beginning one, maybe two, religious groups on campus. I went to a religious Christian summer camp in Pennsylvania for eight years, during which we had daily Christian education lessons. I have studied for and participated in Bible Bowl competitions for years, written two Oratorical essays using the Bible as a source, the first Oratorical competition I won at the regional level and was sent to compete nationally in Chicago, Illinois in 2011, the second Oratorical competition in which I am competing will be held eight days from today. I attended a Roman Catholic high school for four years, where religion was taught as a formal class daily.
I have tutored students of various ages in elementary school. I also have worked as a teacher's aide in Sunday school for Pre-K and grades 1, 2, 5, and 6. During my senior year of high school, I volunteered in a fourth grade classroom for a month. While there, I taught the students division and reading, among other subjects. During that time, I also spent a day helping in a first grade classroom and a day in a second grade classroom as well. I have been a babysitter for many years, and I am around children often. I know how to break down information to make it more interesting, as well as easier to understand.
I took a public speaking course in 11th grade. I then took a communications course in 12th grade and another in freshman year of college, so I made speeches in classes for the last three years. Also, I have spoken in my Church for my Youth Group, and prepared two Oratorical speeches, competing nationally in Chicago two years ago, and I will be competing at the regional level in eight days, hopefully winning and competing nationally in Houston, Texas this summer. In addition, I have performed on stage countless times in plays and musicals, often having to improvise. I have much experience with speaking in front of crowds of many sizes.
