Accountant, Bookkeeper/Organizer plus all English subjects

HI! I have recently opened my own business as a bookkeeper and registered tax preparer. I enjoy working with people of all ages and my best tutoring quality is my organization. While I am tutoring, I can also help to organize ideas and paperwork. I enjoy all aspects of reading and writing as well. I have an office in Dedham Square that is available for tutoring if desired. Previously I worked for a CPA firm for over 15 years, and I have worked with many different types of software, predominantly Quickbooks, Excel and Word. I worked directly with clients on a daily basis, answering questions and solving problems. I also corresponded directly with clients and tax agencies in a clear and concise manner.

Vocabulary

For 5 years, I studied Latin in junior high school and high school. Learning how most of the words in English were formed helped me to breakdown complex words and understand their meaning I would enjoy helping students to do this.

Grammar

Writing a sentence, a paragraph, an essay can be difficult even if you have an idea. Correct grammar helps you express the idea in a clear, concise manner. Through my years at Girls' Latin School, I learned proper grammar and it has stayed with me through life.

Microsoft Excel

I have been working with Excel for at least 15 years. In my previous job, I helped many clients solve their problems or issues, and tutored clients in the use for their specific business. I also set up spreadsheets for their use or for the office use. I used Excel, and continue to use Excel, on a daily basis.

General Computer

I have been using computers, and troubleshooting them, for over 20 years. I have taken classes in various operating systems and software. I have also trained numerous clients on how to use their computers, and the options that are available to them.

Microsoft Word

I have been working with Word for at least 15 years. I use Word, and continue to use Word, on a daily basis. In my previous job, I helped many clients solve their problems and tutored clients in the use of Word.

Reading

Reading is relaxation if you love it. Learning to love reading takes time. To this day, I read with a dictionary close at hand. Taking time to enjoy the words on the page and understand how they all come together to present an idea is what makes it fun.

Writing

Even though my background is in accounting/bookkeeping, I have regularly corresponded with clients and tax agencies. For over 15 years, I was responsible for writing letters, newsletters and policy procedures to send to clients. I also proofread all letters sent from the firm for grammar, organization of ideas, and vocabulary. I very much enjoy reading and writing.

English

English is made up of grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing. After attending Girls' Latin School for 6 years and Northeastern University as an undergraduate, I have spent a great deal of time writing and editing papers and comprehending difficult literature. I also wrote or proofread all of the documents sent out of the CPA office where I use to work and researched items through reading IRS documents.

Accounting

I have been an accountant for over 15 years. I previously worked for a CPA but have now opened my own business as an accountant. While I have a Bachelor of Art in Economics, I took many accounting classes in college. I have also received many CPE credits for attending tax preparation and accounting classes.

Literature

I love to read and sit down with a good book, newspaper or magazine every day. I particularly loved Shakespeare when I was in school. If the student is reading a book that I have not read for while, I would be happy to read it on my own time and discuss it at our sessions.

Proofreading

While I worked at a CPA firm, I proof read all of the documents leaving the office. Because of my experience, and enjoyment of reading, I have been asked to proof read documents for other businesses as well as news letters. I am very organized, and can help you to organize your ideas.

QuickBooks

I have been working with QuickBooks for at least 15 years. I have taken numerous classes on QuickBooks in the past. In my previous job, I helped many clients solve their problems or issues, and tutored clients in the use for their specific business. The firm I previously worked for was a QuickBooks Advisor.

Tax Preparation

I have at least 10 years' experience preparing all types of tax returns. On August 1st, I passed the IRS Registered Tax Return Preparer Exam. I have also been accepted as an Electronic Return Originator. I am currently preparing and e-filing tax returns for clients as a sole proprietor.
