French has always been my passion. I lived in three different French cities over the course of three years, most recently as an English teacher from 2010 to 2012 in Lyon and Paris. I completed a Master of Arts in Teaching in order to become a secondary Foreign Language teacher which is my current occupation at the middle school level. Language education is my profession and over the years I have accumulated a large repertoire of strategies, methods and activities to help others improve their foreign language ability. I've worked primarily with middle school, high school and college age students but I have also tutored adults interested in brushing up on their French to prepare for a trip.
I adapt my teaching approach to my student's needs which tend to fit into two categories. Student already in class such as middle / school students who often needs reinforcement lessons and extra practice of things they're already doing in class. This approach helps students succeed specifically in their classes at school, turning that C into a B or an A.
Secondly I can tutor Student learning autonomously. For these kinds of sessions, I can become the primary teacher by creating lessons and a curriculum based on what the student wants to learn. This could involve bringing in worksheets, reading material as well as just speaking in French (depending on the level).
My strengths as a tutor are my approachability, enthusiasm and creativity to help those students who are frustrated, who don't enjoy it (yet) or simply are struggling with the way they have been learning French. My second set of strengths is my familiarity with and knowledge of French culture which corresponds especially to people who want to learn French for themselves in hopes of using it for real world use.
I look forward to getting in touch with you.
