Hi, my name is Greta! I am a college student majoring in political science
, and am originally from Rome, Italy. Since I was young, languages have been my passion. I have spoken Italian
since the age of three. I have always liked the idea of being able to speak different languages, thus surpassing cultural barriers and becoming a citizen of the world. I have been helping my students and peers defeat the “scary monster” of language
classes ever since I was in high school. I took the IB Diploma in 11th and 12th grade and therefore am familiar with all kinds of language curricula, grammar
I am fluent in Italian (being a native) and also in Spanish. I offer lessons in both subjects for students of all levels. I am very patient and have had experience with beginners as well as with more fluent speakers when I tutored in high school. I am currently a Big Sister at Jackson Mann Elementary School in Allston. My little sister is 8 years old and I frequently help her with her English, math
and social studies
work. This opportunity helped me gain experience and methods of tutoring young children.
My specialty in tutoring is languages. My approach with language students is based on making the subject enjoyable to learn. Just like pieces of a puzzle that come together, every day and every time students put some effort into learning and practicing a language gets them one step closer to seeing the completed picture, which is being fluent and feeling confident with what they say.
I always encourage my students and hope that they respond with a positive attitude, which undoubtedly leads to better results. I love to see my students succeed, and encourage this success by speaking to them in the language during each lesson, providing a full immersion into the subject. To make the language more approachable, I assign my students music
and films in the given language to study. It makes the process of learning and absorbing the language more interesting, and tends to be the best way to learn.
I am extremely enthusiastic about my lessons, and promise to be 100% committed to my students and do my best to make my lessons clear and enjoyable. Thank you for your time. I look forward to meeting you!
