Hi There!

My name is Cody F. and I love tutoring, especially in math and science. I graduated from The Gatton Academy of Math and Science at Western Kentucky University, named the number one public high school in the nation by Newsweek. While there I took extensive college coursework in math, physics, chemistry, biology, and the humanities while also completing my high school education. After graduating I began my undergraduate education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, Massachusetts, recently ranked by US News as the number one university in the country. At MIT I am pursuing a degree in computer science.

During this time I have acquired great experience in tutoring and teaching. I have a total of 6 years of experience tutoring mathematics, particularly calculus. I also have 4 years of experience tutoring in the sciences, such as biology, chemistry, and physics. My experience has come in the form of private, one-on-one tutoring with students ranging in ages from 7th grade through adult learners, college-level review courses, and even teaching SAT prep courses.

My students find me very relatable, and I've heard from several students that having someone close to their own age work with them has been really beneficial to their learning. I look forward to working with you in the future! Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions you might have!

My relevant test scores are:
SAT: 2260 (M: 790, R: 730, W: 740);
ACT Composite: 35 (M: 35, R: 36, E: 36, S: 34);
AP Calculus BC: 5
SAT Subject Test-- Math II: 800 Biology (Ecology): 700
My relevant coursework includes:
MATH: Calculus I and II, Linear Algebra, Multivariable Calculus, Differential Equations, Abstract Algebra, Discrete Mathematics, Computational Problem Solving, Topology
PHYSICAL SCIENCES: University Physics I and II, General Chemistry I and II, Organic Chemistry I and II
LIFE SCIENCES: Introductory Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry I (Honors), Principles and Techniques of Molecular Biology w/ Lab, Principles of Genetics, Comparative Anatomy of Vertebrates w/ Lab, Neurobiology

ACT English

I began taking the ACT in 5th grade and have taken it at least 6 times in my lifetime. My highest score in both math, reading, and english was a 36, my highest science score was a 34, and my overall highest composite score is a 35. I've also taught test prep courses professionally, so I have experience relaying important strategies for taking the SAT and ACT in addition to the basic knowledge students will be tested over.

Calculus

I first took calculus as an advanced sophomore in high school and score a 5 on AP Calculus BC exam. Since then I have tutored calculus at both the AP and college level for about 5 years. It is the subject that I tutor most often and am strongest in. I have also designed and taught calculus review courses for top colleges in the Boston area. My most recent AP student had a very weak grasp of the material just a couple months before the AP exam, but after working with me was able to score a 4 on the AB version of the exam. I've also helped college-level students turn their grades around from failing to Bs and As.

SAT Math

I began taking the SAT in 7th grade and have taken it at least 6 times in my lifetime. My highest score in math is a 790, and I also received a score of 800 on the Math II SAT Subject Test. I've also taught test prep courses professionally, so I have experience relaying important strategies for taking the SAT and ACT in addition to the basic knowledge students will be tested over.

Education

MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology)

Great tutor Cody was very helpful. I understood the material, and if I didn't understand a part, he'd explain it for me so that I'm able to understand. I got to finish my work the day I wanted to finish. He is very patient, helpful, and easy to work with. He was there on time, and it was easy making an appointment with him. He was available and helped me with everything. ...
