Hi Everyone,
My name is Amy, and I love to work one-on-one with middle level students, from those struggling with learning disorders to gifted students.
I graduated from the University of Dayton in middle childhood education, and I am currently working on my Master's of Education in Curriculum and Instruction at Boston College. I taught junior high for a few years, as a self-contained instructor and also as a language arts instructor. I also tutored through a private company in Ohio where I worked with students in grades 4-11, ranging from customized writing and math instruction to SAT/ACT language prep. I have listed myself as a middle level instructor because I am particularly experienced working with students in grades 4-8. Currently in graduate school, I also supervise and mentor student teachers at BC.
My approach to tutoring is that each child has unique needs, so I am very careful to customize my instruction as much as possible. I use a variety of instructional methods and techniques, and I am very resourceful with my instruction, incorporating technology, manipulatives and other outside resources when I can. I also think that having open communication with the student's parents and teachers is important, so that the instruction will lead to meaningful, lasting improvement for the student's learning.
I look forward to hearing from you!
